Staff Training Day 2014

In late January  staff members from the NQLC offices were brought together for a week long Training and professional development exercise. For the first time NQLC legal staff developed and presented accredited legal training that satisifies their annual professional training needs required for their ongoing registration as a legal practioner. Cape York Land Council legal officers also attended these sessions which also included a presentation from National Native Title Tribunal member Helen Shervan. Other workshops include invited guests to talk about their specialised field, the most notable of which was Mick Gooda, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner.  Unfortunately some staff from our regional offices had to leave due to a cyclone hovering in the Coral Sea. Specific training was also delivered in Microsoft Excel, Workplace Health and Safety and Content development techniques for our website and newsletter. A very positive response was recieved from all staff and our thanks go to workshop co-ordinator, Tony Johnson.
